Professional Summary
Mr. Evans has more than 20 years of experience litigating complex intellectual property disputes in the federal courts - during discovery, through trial and on appeal. He has worked in nearly every major business center in the United States, including 28 states and the District of Columbia, in the course of taking depositions, arguing motions, obtaining temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunctions, trying cases and arguing appeals.
Mr. Evans has won summary judgment in a large number of complex patent cases where the plaintiff has made demand for tens and hundreds of millions of dollars. Mr. Evans has won jury verdicts for plaintiffs and defendants in high stakes patent litigation, and has won plaintiff and defense verdicts in commercial litigation as well. He has also successfully defended significant complex commercial cases in federal and state court. In addition, he has successfully briefed and argued several cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
Mr. Evans' patent and trade secret lawsuits have concerned electronic circuits and electrical controls, computer systems and software, telephone systems and software, voting equipment, organic and inorganic chemistry, semiconductors, life sciences reagents and processes, medical and dental products, and manufactured and industrial products. His trademark and unfair competition lawsuits have included marks and competition in manufacturing, electronics, chemical and life sciences industries, power industry, financial services industry, entertainment industry and food services industry. Mr. Evans has also handled several copyright lawsuits.
Mr. Evans received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1985 from the University of Notre Dame, where he graduated summa cum laude. While at Notre Dame, Mr. Evans was a member of Tau Beta Pi, the electrical engineering honor society. In 1988, he received his Juris Doctorate from Washington University, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif, and was Notes and Comments Editor of the Washington University Law Quarterly.
Mr. Evans is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the American Bar Association, the Missouri Bar Association, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Mr. Evans is Past-President of the Patent and Trademark Section of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. He was an adjunct professor at Washington University's School of Electrical Engineering from 1995-2001.
