Senniger Powers Patron Sponsor of 2005 Florida Tech Transfer Conference
TAMPA (May 23, 2005) — Senniger Powers was a Patron Sponsor of the 2nd Annual Florida Tech Transfer Conference, held in Orlando on May 18th & 19th. Industry executives, entrepreneurs, university researchers and investors convened to network and explore opportunities for commercializing intellectual property developed at Florida’s academic research institutions. The Central Florida Technology Partnership joined the Florida Research Consortium and Tampa Bay Technology Forum in producing the event, hosted by the University of Central Florida.
"The Florida Tech Transfer Conference is a shining example of academia and the business community working together to capitalize on innovations garnered from research conducted by university faculty," said Ed Hejlek, managing partner of Senniger Powers. "We were proud to sponsor such a worthwhile and successful event."
The opening day of the Conference included the Innovation Florida showcase, featuring promising university spin-out companies seeking capital and business partners. On May 19th, 11 of Florida’s top research universities exhibited and presented in breakout sessions technologies available for commercialization and licensing. Sessions also featured industry leaders and university tech transfer professionals discussing how to work with universities and partner for profit.
Senniger Powers sponsored the Florida Tech Transfer Conference to acknowledge the firm’s continued support of tech transfer initiatives in the state. The firm’s ongoing work with Florida State University on its cancer-fighting Taxol and taxane analogs has helped FSU accomplish one of the most lucrative tech transfer initiatives ever implemented by a single university.
Participating universities in this year’s conference included Florida A & M University, Florida Atlantic University, Florida International University, Florida State University, Nova Southeastern University, University of Central Florida, University of Florida, University of Miami, University of North Florida, University of South Florida and the University of West Florida.
