Senniger Powers Attorney Receives Guild Award from Saint Louis University

ST. LOUIS — John Roedel, Jr., a partner at Senniger Powers, a leading intellectual property law firm based in St. Louis, has been honored with a Guild Award from St. Louis University’s School of Law for 12 years of excellence as an adjunct assistant professor. For more than a decade, Roedel shared his patent law experience with aspiring IP attorneys through teaching and mentoring.

“I’ve been honored to work with such an outstanding group of students over the years,” says Roedel. “The vast majority of them have been engineers and scientists from St. Louis corporations pursuing degrees to practice IP law.”

The course Roedel taught had a reputation for being extremely challenging. He says the final exam was notorious on campus for being difficult. For this reason, the class attracted only the very best and brightest SLU students. They tended to ask the more insightful questions and engage in deeper class discussions.

“Today, three of my former students are now my partners. It has been very rewarding to witness their professional growth in IP law first-hand,” says Roedel. “I’ll certainly miss teaching, but I may return to teach seminars in patent and antitrust law down the road.”
