Senniger Powers Attorney Is on the Ball
Senior Partner John K. Roedel, Jr. added to his long list of accomplishments by catching a foul ball at the Cardinals baseball game on April 24.
John was sitting along the first base side of new Busch Stadium, eating a hamburger, when a ball hit by Cardinals pitcher Chris Carpenter rocketed his way. John describes the ensuing scene. "It happened in an instant. The ball had just hit its apogee and the guy in the row in front of me had it. But the ball spun off his hand and flew over my head. I saw it out of the corner of my eye and somehow corralled it." The hamburger ended up on his lap, but John managed to hang onto his prize.
Adding to the excitement of the evening was a 7-2 Cardinals victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
John hasn't yet decided what to do with the cherished baseball. He may have it inscribed with the date, and possibly give it to one of his children or grandchildren. For now, the ball is safely tucked inside his wife's purse.
For John, a lifelong St. Louis Browns and St. Louis Cardinals fan, it was an unforgettable moment. "I've been going to baseball games for 61 years in three ballparks, but this is the first ball I've caught."
