Robert Bain Quoted on Importance of Early Patents

Bob Bain , chief operating officer of Senniger Powers and chair of the electrical and computer practice group, is quoted in the article "Early Patents Can Boost Funding for Entrepreneurs," appearing in the May 21, 2010 edition of the St. Louis Business Journal. Mr. Bain is among several local attorneys commenting on the importance of early patent protection for startups, saying, "The only way a startup gets to the mature phase is through money, and you either need to have sales or obtain financing to get that money. In order to get that financing, you need some piece of property that has value. The patent is that piece of property." According to studies, early patent protection increases the chance of second-round financing for startups from 50 percent to 84 percent.
